Medications
Untitled Document

The first line of defense against back/leg or neck/arm pain is the use of rest and medications. Of course, its critical that you ask your doctor for the choice of the best medication to avoid any serious side effects.

The types of medications used for back/neck and leg/arm pain include:

1. Anti-inflammatory medications.
2. Steroids
3. Pain medication including narcotics.
4. Muscle relaxants.
5. Antidepressants.
6. Some anti-seizure medications.

One or a number of the above medications can be combined to try to help patients especially during the acute [early] phase of pain syndromes.

Unfortunately, all of the above medications can have serious side effects; long term use of these medications require close follow ups by a primary physician.

As always, please consult you physician for the best choice of treatment and avoid self-treatment.
